Before we take a look at the leak, let’s get the usual out of the way. Apple is expected to unveil four new iPhones, i.e., the vanilla iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro & 15 Pro Max. Now as per the leak, the vanilla iPhone 15 and the 15 Plus are likely to get a big camera upgrade. It is reported that the upcoming non-pro iPhone handsets will get a new camera sensor. Well, this comes from an analyst named Jeff Pu, an analyst at the Hongkong based investment firm Haitong International Securities. In his research notes, Jeff claims that the iPhone 15 & 15 Plus this year will feature a 48MP camera sensor on the back. Last year, the company, for the first time ever, introduced the 48MP camera sensor in its iPhone 14 Pro series. Now, considering the 48MP camera sensor does make its way to the iPhone 15 & the 15 Plus. it will be the first major camera resolution upgrade since the iPhone 6S, which the company upgraded to 12MP back then. At the same time, the camera resolution has remained the same for all thee years long. However, the company has upgraded the camera sensor size over the years. However, it seems like the stacked sensor is facing some yield issues, which could, in turn, delay the mass production of the non-pro handsets. Furthermore, the analysts reiterated some of the specs – i.e., 15 Pro & 15 Pro Max, which include a Type-C port, A17 bionic chipset & more RAM for the upcoming pro flagships. With that being said, let’s take a look at everything that we know so far in terms of features and specifications of the upcoming iPhone 15 series.
iPhone 15 Series Specifications (Leaked)
The iPhone 15 & 15 Pro will feature the same 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, whereas the 15 Pro Max & 15 Plus will also feature the same 6.7-inch display. However, the 120Hz ProMotion will be exclusive to the Pro handsets only. Also, this year all four iPhone 15 devices will feature Dynamic Island, unlike last year, which was exclusive to the Pro models only. The devices will have the A17 Bionic chipset, up to 8GB of RAM & support 20W fast wired charging. Also, this time there will be a new mute button on the Pro devices, which will replace the iconic mute switch. All four iPhone models will run iOS 17 as usual. Now, the vanilla models are said to feature dual rear cameras at the back, a 48MP new main camera, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens.
