Enable Announce Calls on iPhone

iPhone announcing the caller’s name is a really helpful feature and enabling it is an effortless process. Here are the simple steps to follow.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Siri & Search.
  3. Now tap on Announce Calls.
  4. Tap on Always if you want the call to be announced always. You can also choose “Headphones Only” or “Headphones & Car” to announce the caller’s name when it is connected to your car or your AirPods or any other headphones.

Enable Announce Notifications on iPhone

Just like announcing a caller’s name, you can also announce notifications on your iPhone. Here are the steps to do so.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Accessibility.
  3. On the Accessibility page scroll to the General section and tap on Siri.
  4. Now enable the toggle named Announce Notifications on Speaker.
  5. Tap on Announce Notifications that just appeared after enabling the option.
  6. Scroll and tap on the App whose notification you want to be announced. For example, I’m tapping on Instagram.
  7. Enable Announce Notifications. Now all the notifications from that app will be announced.
  8. How to turn off call announcements on iPhone? If you don’t like this feature and want to get rid of this, go to Settings > Siri & Search > Announce Calls > Never.
  9. Will Siri also announce unknown callers? Yes. Siri will speak out the numbers of unknown callers when they are calling on your iPhone.

When Not to Use Call Announcements

In short, announcing calls and notifications is one of the handy features present on your iPhone. However, there are situations where you may want to disable call and notification announcement feature like while in a meeting, public places, etc. It is most useful when driving or when you are wearing a headphone or working alone.
